You're Not Lazy. You're Scared. Here's The Fix.

“I didn’t sleep well last night, better not chance a workout today.”

“It’s been so long since I hit the gym, that class just isn’t worth the risk for me.”

“I’m not as young as I used to be, I’m better off just maintaining the shape I’m in now.”

“I just need to get through this week, then I’m gonna get serious about my health!”

Any of those sound familiar to you? Hell, I’m a personal trainer and I know I’ve said at least one of these. After all it’s a lot easier to come up with the perfect excuse to not train, than it is to plan and execute a perfect workout.

So what gives? How is it that some people seem to be able to get to the gym day in and day out, seemingly crushing their goals, while the rest of us struggle to even drag ourselves out of bed in the morning?

The answer is remarkably simple.

Consistency > Perfection.

No matter what reason you use to justify it, fear lies at the heart of 90% of the excuses we make to avoid the gym.

“I didn’t sleep well” is code for I’m afraid to push myself today in case something breaks.

“It’s been so long since I hit the gym” is code for, I’m afraid I won’t be able to make it through that exercise class.

“I’m not as young as I used to be” is code for, I’m afraid my body is too far gone to reclaim my health.

“I just need to get through this week” is code for, I’m afraid that the rest of my life is going to stop me from reaching my goals again.

Seeking perfection in the gym may feel like the best way to combat these fears and prevent injury, but the truth is it often has the exact opposite effect. In fact the fastest way to get hurt is to not train at all.

Perfect workouts don’t exist, but consistent workouts can and do! So instead of trying to absolutely destroy yourself every single workout, cut yourself some slack. Do what you feel able to do on that day. That consistency will mean far more in the long term than any intensity you may think is missing from your workouts.

It might sound cliche, but it’s true. The only bad workout is the one you don’t do. At Revamp HQ, our goal is to help you build the confidence in your health and fitness that can only come from consistency.

Revamp your lifestyle. Reclaim your health. Reach your goals. Let us show you the difference.
